Using our fundraising funds, we recently purchased sleds for recess time. Students (and staff!) had a blast using the sleds. Everyone did a great job taking turns and being safe.

We had a wonderful time at our first annual Gingerbread & Giggles Decorating Party! This new community event replaced our traditional Santa’s Breakfast, and it was a huge success. Families received everything they needed to create their own gingerbread houses, enjoyed gingerbread men cookies and milk, and spent time visiting with Santa and Ginger. Each family went home with their completed gingerbread house and a Gingerbread Man book to enjoy together. Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make this event so special.

A Community Champion is a person who collaborates with a variety of partners to strengthen school, business, and non-profit relationships for the benefit of the community and our students.
Congratulations to Canaan's first Community Champion of the year, Mr Larry!
As Larry always says, he does it for the kids. He truly enjoys being around our students and takes pride in keeping our school looking its best for them. Larry balances his time between custodial duties and driving the bus—certainly not an easy schedule—but he makes it work with dedication and a smile. We’re grateful for all he does; Larry is an essential part of the Canaan Elementary community.
Thank you for all you do, Mr Larry!

Our annual Community Trunk or Treat was a huge success! Families, staff, and community members came together for an afternoon of festive fun. The parking lot was filled with creative trunks, smiling faces, and plenty of candy to go around. We were thrilled to see such a great turnout and appreciate everyone who helped make this event so special—from those who decorated trunks to those who donated treats. It was a wonderful way to celebrate fall and connect with our amazing school community!

Today our Pre-K through 2nd grade students celebrated our Special Persons Lunch! Each child had the chance to invite someone special — a parent, grandparent, family member, or friend — to join them for a cozy lunchtime together at school. The cafeteria was filled with smiles, laughter, and lots of love as students proudly shared their school with their guests. It was a wonderful reminder of how important our families and community are to our school family! ❤️

🚌 Happy Bus Driver Appreciation Day! 🚌
A huge shout-out to our awesome bus drivers! They’re the first friendly faces our students see each morning and the ones who make sure everyone gets home safely at the end of the day. Rain, snow, or shine, they keep things rolling with patience, care, and big smiles.
Thank you for all you do—we appreciate you every day! 💛

October has been all about fire safety at Canaan Elementary School! Our friends from the Canaan Fire Department helped us learn how to stay safe in case of a fire. Students took a walking field trip to the fire station, explored the trucks, and checked out all the cool equipment firefighters use. Later, the firefighters brought their smokehouse to CES, where students practiced how to safely get out of a house filled with smoke. Chief Charlie Worcester even stopped by to read a fire safety story! To thank our local heroes for teaching us so much, the CES staff surprised them with a care package full of goodies.

It's certainly getting chilly out there! We have limited supplies of extra winter gear for our students to borrow. If you are cleaning out closets, we definitely would appreciate any donations of winter gear! Thank you from the CES staff.

Canaan Elementary School is currently fundraising with Cherrydale! We'd love your support. Please use this link to help us reach our goal: http://bit.ly/4gUkwhu
We have some fun and educational fire safety activities coming including walking to our Canaan Fire House! We are looking forward to working with the wonderful Canaan Fire Department!
